Corporate structures set up early in a business’s life tend to stay untouched even as everything around them changes completely. Multiple business lines running under a single corporation with no separation, personal and corporate assets blurred together on paper, a structure originally built for a much smaller or differently focused business that no longer resembles what it’s become. None of this causes a visible problem day to day, which is exactly why it goes unaddressed for years. It surfaces the moment there’s a sale, a lawsuit, a partnership dispute, or an audit, at which point restructuring under pressure is both more expensive and more limited in its options than restructuring proactively would have been. Reviewing the structure isn’t reactive work by nature, it only becomes reactive when it’s left until something forces the question.
Not sure if your structure still fits your business? Let’s take a look before something forces the question.
